Basic rules of Baccarat

Baccarat is like Blackjack a game that is played with cards. However the game play of baccarat is much easier then blackjack. The aim is to get 9 points with the cards in your hand or at least as close as possible to the 9 points. You play Baccarat against the dealer and the one who is closest to or has 9 points wins that game round.
The game is played with normal playing cards and the number of decks depends on the type of baccarat and also on the online casino you want to play in, this can vary between the 3 and 8 decks. The points of the cards are divided as follows; the Ace is worth 1 point, the 2-9 are worth their own value and the 10 and face cards are all worth zero points. The total of your hand is all the points counted together. In the case your total is above ten then you must deduct 10 points. For example you have a 6 and an 7 in your hand which is a total of 13 points. Every score above ten needs to be deducted with 10 so you will be left with a score of 3 in your hands.
The game of Baccarat gives you three options to bet on; on the player (also called punto), on the dealer/bank (banco) or on a tie.

How to play online Baccarat

Online Baccarat can be found at online casinos, you will see that most of the online casinos offer you baccarat. In an online casino you are usually the only player against the dealer/computer, but in the case you play the live version of baccarat there can be more players.
The game will start when you and if applicable the other players have all placed their bets. After that the dealer will deal the cards and every player including the dealer will receive two cards. These are dealt face down so you are the only person to see your own cards. If you or the dealer has 8 or 9 points it is called a natural and that person will win that game round. If no one does have a natural the game will continue and you can receive a third card. It is up to you if you want another card but a hint can be to draw another card when your hand total is 0-5 points and to not draw another card when your hand total is 6 or 7. The dealer can do the same but there are also some specific rules for the dealer to draw or not draw.
The game is won by the person who is closest to the 9 points.

Types of Baccarat

In total there are three main types of Baccarat. In online casinos you can see the different names but often the game is played according to the same rules.

• Punto Banco; this is the type of baccarat that is played the most at online casinos. Punto means player and Banco means the bank/dealer. It is the most simple type of baccarat and very popular and is played according to the rules that we explained above.
• Chemin de Fer; in this version the role of the bank can change, as long as the bank will win it will keep the role of bank but when he loses the role of bank will be passed on to the next player. In an online casino the rules are played just like Punto Banco
• Baccarat Banque; in this game each player will be the bank once. The bank will start at the player who was the first one to write his name on the attendee list. Baccarat Banque has some difficult rules that are maintained when played in a land based casino. When you ever find this type of baccarat in an online casino you will see that the game is played according to the basic rules mentioned above.
